Maypearl Community Development Corporation (MEDC) Grant
The Maypearl Community Development Corporation (MEDC) operates two sales tax corporations (Type A and Type B) to support quality-of-life improvements, community projects, economic growth, business development, and tourism in Maypearl. Projects must be eligible under the Texas Development Corporation Act (Chapters 501 to 505 of the Texas Local Government Code).
Grant Types and Key Guidelines
The MEDC offers two primary types of grants:
1. Business Development Infrastructure Grants (MEDC B)
- Purpose: To fund improvements that support local businesses and services.
- Funding Limit: Grants will not exceed $25,000.00.
- Matching Requirement: A 25% match of the requested funds is required from the applicant.
- Eligible Improvements: Funds can be used for infrastructure enhancements, including:
- Utilities (sewer, water, site, electric, gas)
- Drainage
- Security (lighting, fencing)
- Site improvements and landscaping
- Fire suppression
- Eligible Businesses (Retail & Service): Storefronts/shops, restaurants, specialty food venues, event venues, salons, grocery stores, and services (such as medical or dental).
2. Promotional/Community Grants (MEDC A and B)
- Purpose: To promote and showcase the City of Maypearl through events and community initiatives.
- Eligible Use of Funds: Funds may only be used for the marketing, outreach, advertising, and promotion of the event.
Application Requirements
All grant applications must be fully completed to be considered by the board and must demonstrate how they meet the eligibility requirements of the Texas Local Government Code.
Required information on the application includes:
- Business Name (MEDC B only) or Organization Name (MEDC A and B)
- Contact information and property address
- Total funding requested and total cost of the project
- A description of the project, including start/finish dates and location
Note: Organizations applying for Promotional/Community grants must indicate if they are a 501(c)(3) or a nonprofit organization.
