Municipal Court
About the Court
The Municipal Court is a part of the City’s judicial branch. The court’s primary functions are to process and adjudicate Class C misdemeanor violations of City ordinances and State laws that occur within the city limits. These violations include traffic offenses, parking violations, and other offenses. The court does not handle felony cases or civil suits.

Court and Jury Trials
You have the right to a trial before a judge or a jury.
- Bench Trial: A trial before a judge.
- Jury Trial: A trial before a jury of your peers.
To request a trial, you must appear in person at the court by your appearance date to enter a plea of “not guilty.” A trial date will then be set.
