Serial Number Registry
One of the programs we offer for our citizens to help prevent theft, or in the event of a burglary, help the victim get their property back is the Serial Number Registry.
We have a template that you can download below and fill out and return to the Police Department. Once your information is submitted it will be maintained in a database at the Maypearl Police Department. This information will be kept on file so that if you become the victim of a burglary or theft the information will be available to enter into TCIC/NCIC as stolen once a report is taken by an officer.
Serial numbers can be found on:
- Televisions
- Stereos
- Game system
- Computers
- Firearms
- Kitchen appliances
- Camcorders
- Air conditioners
- Cell phones
- Cameras
- IPods
- And numerous other items
Finding one stolen item with a recorded serial number can sometimes help detectives solve multiple burglaries. It is important to take photographs of jewelry and other items that do not have serial numbers. Also use a permanent marker to place your initials on CD’, videos, DVD and game cartridges for identification purposes.
Remember to tell your friends and neighbors so they can register their serial numbers!
